In partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the Foundation is investing in National Public Lands Day (NPLD) community-driven events across the country to support America’s hardest working lands.
National Public Lands Day takes place every year on the fourth Saturday in September and encourages thousands of Americans to get outside to celebrate and connect with these incredible spaces. As the largest single-day volunteer event for our public lands, NPLD is a powerful opportunity for Americans to care for and engage meaningfully with the many public lands nationwide.
“Our national public lands rely on local hands,” said I Ling Thompson, CEO at the Foundation for America’s Public Lands. “Through this partnership, we’re honoring the people and communities who give their time to keep these unique working lands working for everyone. Americans love their public lands, and National Public Lands Day is a great way for communities to come together, get outside, and take care of their favorite places.”
The Foundation’s support will help the BLM host 119 events nationwide, engaging an estimated 6,000 volunteers in projects that restore trails, protect ecosystems, and improve recreation access. Investing in our public lands is vital to our economy, environment, and cultural legacy.
