Today marks the 60th anniversary of the National Wilderness Act! 🎉 This historic legislation expa ...
nded the mission and reach of the Bureau of Land Management.
With a stroke of a pen, the National Wilderness Preservation System was born, allowing for the protection of some of our nation's most iconic landscapes and pristine waters. These designated wilderness areas are managed by four federal agencies, including the BLM.
Today, @mypubliclands manages nearly 10 million acres of designated wilderness areas – working hand-in-hand with the Foundation and partners to maintain the natural beauty and historic significance of these wild places.

lathead Valley of Montana, Taldi comes to the Foundation from @rei, where she served as Director of Community and Government Affairs. In this capacity, Harrison oversaw REI’s work fostering collaborative partnerships to ensure equitable access to and infrastructure for inspiring outdoor recreation opportunities.
As CPO, Taldi will lead our inaugural grantmaking programs and manage state and federal government relations and community engagement. She brings nearly 20 years of experience working on our public lands.
As the official charitable partner of @mypubliclands, the Foundation for America's Public Lands operates and raises private funds to help raise awareness, increase access, and inspire stewardship of more than 245 million acres of U.S. public lands and waters.
