What Public Lands Mean to Me

Favorite thing to do in public lands or public waters?

Hiking is my favorite way to connect with public lands. While the Pacific Northwest boasts exceptional outdoor experiences in forest and coastal systems, my favorite places are those that offer more open space and wide vistas, such as Steens Mountain in southeastern Oregon.

Where is your favorite spot?

I live right next to Tryon Creek State Park, Oregon's only state park located within a major metropolitan area. You can find me there walking with the kids and birdwatching, particularly the many owls that roost near my house.

What excites you most about working with the Foundation?

The BLM has a crucial responsibility to manage public lands for multiple uses while safeguarding our natural, historical, and cultural resources. This mission is made even more challenging given the millions of acres of our public lands that are degraded or facing significant risk. I am thrilled to help establish a Foundation to work alongside the BLM, leveraging the power of partnership to amplify and support the incredible work being done by BLM staff across the country.
Sacramento River Bend Outstanding Natural Area

Our public lands and waters are some of the hardest working in America.

Your support will help ensure these unique places are safe, accessible and healthy for the future.
