What Public Lands Mean to Me

Favorite thing to do in public lands or public waters?

I really enjoy hiking and walking with my family, whether it is in the woods or next to the ocean. I especially love watching how my two daughters can always find so many fascinating and exciting things in nature no matter where we are.

Where is your favorite spot?

I have many…Shenandoah and the Delaplane area of Virginia, ice skating on Cascade Lake in the Adirondacks and especially Singing Beach, MA where I currently live. You can catch the most beautiful sunrises, the water is clear blue and as named, the sand “sings” (or squeaks) when you walk on it. I have even been lucky enough to see humpback whales swimming right off shore in the summer.

What excites you the most about working with the foundation?

To be part of an organization with a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future for our lands and waters so they can be used and enjoyed responsibly.
