David Zhang serves as the Chief Development Officer with the Foundation for America’s Public Lands, leading the organization’s philanthropic and sustainable public-private partnerships. With over two decades of leadership experience in both the private and public sectors, David brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record in fundraising and development.
Before joining the Foundation, David led fundraising initiatives for the Trust for Public Land in California, successfully raising over $150 million to protect, build, and conserve the state’s lands and parks. His experience also includes key development roles at the San Francisco Symphony and San Diego State University, following a distinguished career as an attorney and a decade of military service. As an avid off-roader, mountain biker and hiker, David can now be found in the backcountry tying fishing lines and shoes with his two young sons.
