Andrew Clark

Grants Administrator

Andrew Clark joins the Foundation for America’s Public Lands as Grants Administrator. Prior to his time at BLM Andrew worked in the Office of Gulf Coast Restoration at the U.S. Treasury. Andrew’s experience includes 18+ years managing federal grants and cooperative agreements in areas of agricultural research, museum collections conservation, workforce development, tourism promotion, public infrastructure, wildfire mitigation, and environmental restoration. Andrew believes that relationship building, consistency, and transparency are the cornerstones of successful projects and grants management, and Andrew has spent his career working on tools and strategies to achieve those goals. A botanist by training, outside of work Andrew is in his garden with his wife, two kids and a flock of chickens and ducks in Southern Maryland.

What Public Lands Mean to Me

What is your favorite thing to do on public lands or in public waters?

I enjoy being able to hike or climb through nature as it surrounds me. I am a botanist by training so my first observation when arriving somewhere new on public lands is to take note of the plant communities and conditions and seek out things new to me or unique to that area/ecosystem.

Where is your favorite outdoor spot?

My favorite outdoor spot is in the woods. I find forests to be inspiring and calming. If I had the choice to walk on the beach or walk in the woods, I would choose the forest every time.

What excites you most about working with the Foundation?

I am excited to use my professional expertise to make the public more aware of America’s public lands. America’s public lands are a vast invisible entity to most Americans, and I believe the amazing opportunities for all Americans in accessing public lands is dramatically underutilized.
