Kristin brings 20 years of experience working within voluntary private lands conservation and public lands access, use, and stewardship. Hailing from the vast rugged landscape of Central Idaho which contains over 95% public lands, Kristin was tasked by a group of local ranchers near Salmon, Idaho to create the rural area’s first community-based land trust. Over the next decade, working with voluntary landowners, mostly ranchers, the group conserved thousands of acres of private land, keeping cattle ranches economically viable while conserving some of the region’s most critical fish and big game habitat. No stranger to the diverse uses on public land, Kristin and her husband also owned and operated a whitewater rafting business for over 20 years on the Salmon River running through Idaho’s Frank Church Wilderness. Today Kristin and her husband work and reside inside the Frank Church Wilderness on the banks of the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, managing the prestigious Middle Fork Lodge. Kristin has served local, regional and national boards for over 20 years in business, recreation, land conservation, and health care.
